Andres Erik Ilves comes to us from the BBC, where he was a journalist and served in senior editorial roles in places ranging from Afghanistan to Africa.

 

An Estonian who has traversed the globe in his career and studies, Andres has found a home in Johannesburg. He is joining us as our inaugural writer in residence, working on both fiction and current affairs set in contemporary Johannesburg and Soweto.

 

In addition to his radio and television journalism, Andres’s work has previously been published in book, magazine, and online form. He is an honours graduate of Princeton University in the United States and a member of the South African Writers’ Circle.
